A parent’s response to their child’s gender and sexuality identity is the single most important factor in that youth’s ability to lead a safe, healthy, and happy life. Louisville Youth Group recognizes that this journey is complex for the entire family, and we seek to provide support, guidance, and resources to the parents and families of our youth. Even the most affirming of parents take a year or more to fully integrate their child’s new identity into their daily lives. LYG is currently in the process of growing a broader set of resources for parents, and we are excited about the future for this area of our organization.

Parents are welcome to attend LYG Friday Night programming with their youth during their first visit to the organization. After their child’s first visit, parents are welcome to drop their youth off and return at the end of programming or to sit in our Library and Media room during programming.

Throughout the year, there are a variety of speciality events and programs that parents can attend. All of our current programming is published on our programming page, communicated on our Facebook page, and through our programming email.
